About the event

Community Philanthropy’s Opportunities to Build Inclusive Communities
Presented by Charles Stewart Mott Foundation, Convening on Justice Philanthropy research team and Wagner Philanthropy. Community philanthropic organizations have the opportunity to play pivotal roles in systems change to build inclusive communities–communities that share economic, social, and political power with all residents regardless of race, class, gender, or culture. In this session, we'll hear from philanthropic leaders who have led their communities in systems change to dismantle systemic racism in their local communities and beyond. Systems change cannot be achieved by individual people or organizations working in isolation. Instead, panelists will share their successes and challenges in building coalitions within their organizations and in the community to lead systems change. This convening is sponsored by a generous grant from the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation. Panelists: Cesar Aleman, Executive Vice President, Membership and Impact; UpTogether Felicia R. Beard, Associate Vice President, Racial Equity Initiatives; Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo Amy Daly-Donovan, Executive Director, Community Foundation Opportunity Network Pamela Ross, Leader of Community Impact; John R. Osishei Foundation Moderator Jamie Levine Daniel, Henry & Marilyn Taub Foundation Associate Professor of Nonprofit Management and Public Service This event is for NYU students, staff, faculty and members of the broader community.
