It's that time again, y'all! On Sunday, July 20th, we'll be meeting on the internets for our (almost-) monthly workshop, "Understanding Cuban Music for Dancers," or--as the kids call it--UCMfD (just rolls off the tongue).
At 2pm (NY time - ignore any other time that Facebook tells you this event takes place), we'll be spending 90 minutes diving deep into the structures, instruments, and rhythms of Cuban music, with a particular focus on helping us to understand what the implications are for us as dancers. It's essential learning that will help deepen your connection to the music and give meaning to your movement.
The class will be led by 93x rueda world champion (and two-time runner-up in the sarcasm olympics) Ethan Wagner and will include plenty of time for questions and discussion.
WHERE: Online!
HOW MUCH: $20
HOW TO REGISTER: Please (1) mark yourself as "Going" on this page and then (2) send payment of $20 via paypal (to
ZXRoYW5qd2FnbmVyIHwgZ21haWwgISBjb20=) or Venmo/cash app ($ethanjwagner) (please feel free to contact me for other ways to pay, including flattery, crypto, and/or homemade passionfruit-raspberry tarts). Then (3) on the day of the workshop, head over to the Google Meet link, listed on this page, where we'll have the video call.
For beginners, vets, new students, and longtime students alike, I'm excited to invite you to come, join, and get a taste of our classes and our approach to this dance we all love :)
