Freshly nominated for Metal & Hard Music Artist of the Year at the Western Canadian Music Awards, Thirteen Goats demonstrates a unique ability to integrate memorable hooks and compelling narratives into heavy, technical music. Their ambitious sophomore record, Capricorn Rising, served as both a testament to their musicianship and an introduction to their mascot: a goat-headed antichrist named Shepherd who raises an animal army to reclaim the Earth from humanity as punishment for our mismanagement of the planet. Sign of the Goat, the second single from that record, also earned the band a nomination for Best Metal Video at the Canadian Independent Music Video Awards.
Thirteen Goats has also developed a formidable reputation as a live act. Their raw intensity and flair for theatrical, high-energy performances have landed them on bills with rock and metal heavyweights like Cynic, Atheist, Revocation, Dwarves, and Opal In Sky. Black Ivar is a hybrid metalcore band based in Vancouver, BC. The band mixes heavy riffs, cinematic elements, and raw emotion into a sound that’s both aggressive and atmospheric, with heavy influence from deathcore and nu metal.
