The 3rd Annual Spikin’ in the Street Sand Volleyball Tournament will take place in downtown New Ulm on August 1–2, 2025. The event transforms two blocks of city streets into a beach-style volleyball venue, with 88 teams competing across eight courts. Games will run from 7 a.m. until around 10:30 or 11 p.m. on Saturday, August 2. The tournament has expanded due to high demand, and spectators are welcome to attend, though outside coolers are not allowed. Food and drinks will be available on-site.
A free community pre-party will be held Friday evening, August 1, featuring sand activities, yard games, a bounce house, food trucks, music, and more. Team registration is open until July 1, 2025, but only the first 88 paid teams will be accepted. Volunteer opportunities will also be available, with roles in setup, sand maintenance, registration, and kids’ activities.
The event is organized by the Chamber of Commerce and local businesses, and is privately funded with no tax dollars used. Attendees can enjoy local food vendors, merchandise sales, and kids’ play areas, with designated smoking areas and handicap-accessible features provided. Local businesses remain open during the event, and guests are asked to keep entrances clear.
