About the event

Sympathetic Resonance in Wellbeing
Free | No ticket required, all welcome

In this second session of Sympathetic Resonance: A Series of Unfoldings, we explore how vibration and resonance can support mental and physical wellbeing. Guided by sound practitioner Ram Davies, you’ll experience a sound bath using instruments like gongs and singing bowls. We’ll also explore resonance breathing—a practice shown to reduce stress and improve focus. Together, we’ll reflect on how sympathetic resonance might help us listen more closely to our own rhythms and connect more deeply with the world around us.

Each session will begin with a witnessing of O’Callaghan’s performance First Sound, Last Sound and unfold into a focused investigation of how resonance operates within a specific field of practice.

No prior knowledge required, just an open mind.

Sympathetic Resonance: a series of unfoldings

What is sympathetic resonance?
How does it shape what we hear, feel, and create?
Can sound and energy move through matter even when we are still?
What does it mean for one object to vibrate in harmony with another, without being touched?

Inspired by Mel O'Callaghan’s First Sound, Last Sound, this two-part participatory series invites publics to explore sympathetic resonance through the lenses of music and wellbeing.

Each session will begin with a witnessing of O’Callaghan’s performance First Sound, Last Sound and unfold into a focused investigation of how resonance operates within a specific field of practice.
