🌊💙 COMMUNITY ACTIVATION @ NPDC 💙🌊
🕐 THIS TUESDAY 20TH MAY @ 1 PM - Meeting Starts.
(Arrive early, 12:50pm. Stay for maybe only half an hour)
📍 NPDC Council Chambers, 84 Liardet St, Ngāmotu / New Plymouth
What’s happening?
Charlotte Melser (Whanganui Councillor) will be the first speaker delivering the “Concerned Communities of Taranaki & Manawatū Against Seabed Mining" petition representing 3,000+ signatures at NPDC’s Strategy & Operations meeting (via live stream).
JOIN US IN PERSON TO SUPPORT AND SEND A CLEAR MESSAGE THAT OUR COMMUNITIES OPPOSE SEABED MINING.
We invite everyone to leave together once the seabed mining topic is completed in the meeting. And then gather together for some local updates and opportunity to share, outside, afterwards.
This is a VERY IMPORTANT time to show up and activate NPDC and communities to engage and be vocal.
Why it matters
• NPDC yet to engage in opposing seabed mining.
• Fast-Track process is underway—decision-makers must hear us now
• Election year: show councillors strong community unity in opposing seabed mining and the fast track.
Let’s pack the room!
Capacity for 100 – make every seat count
🎨 Your CREATIVITY is welcome! Be that with images of whales, penguins, messages, etc (we'll take a photo and have to leave any signs outside the chamber)
🤝 Peaceful, proactive community engagement
Together, we can send a clear message:
SEABED MINING HAS NO PLACE IN OUR MOANA ✨
#ProtectOurMoana #NoSeabedMining #ConcernedCommunities
