Four Māori artists involved in He Tukutuku Auahatanga share their practices and creative journeys of responding to ancestral heritage while forging new pathways forward — he karanga mai, he karanga atu.

What threads have you picked up from others’ work? What draws you in to find out more? Listen as each practitioner untangles the taonga that have inspired them and explains their artistic responses to the karanga they felt inside.

This panel considers how we engage with our cultural heritage and reimagine it in te ao hurihuri: the generational weaving of thread from the past into the future, unwinding, finding the mouri, and reforming it from the strongest fibres.
