Meryl Zimmerman

Born to a New Yorker and a New Orleanian, Meryl Zimmerman has been captivating New Orleans with her jazz since landing here in 2012. Known for her rich, soulful voice, infectious energy on stage, and a knack for playful improvisation, Meryl brings her own twist to jazz standards – and proudly holds the title of New Orleans’ only teal-haired jazz singer (as far as she’s aware).

With three albums under her belt – Crystalline (2020), A Very Meryl Christmas (2021), and the latest Easy To Love (2024) – Meryl’s work shines, with jazz pros Hal Smith on drums, Kris Tokarski on piano, and Nobu Ozaki on bass in her newest release.

Meryl teaches jazz voice at both the University of New Orleans and Loyola, mentors young musicians through Little Stompers, and has spent the past three summers with the New Orleans Traditional Jazz Camp. Her latest project, The Meryl Zimmerman Quartet, is her first true “band,” featuring old friends Eric Merchant, Ed Wise, and Ronan Cowan as they bring fresh takes on classic tunes.
