We’re gearing up for another exciting opportunity to come together, work on our beloved park, and continue to make progress on our projects! Thanks to a generous grant from the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP), we now have a container to house our tools and supplies. But before we can celebrate by using it, we need your help to prep it for the next phase!
Work Party Details
📅 Date: October 5, 2025
⏰ Time: 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM
📍 Location: Bates Park (meet near the new container)
We’ll be focusing on prepping one side of the container to paint our Bates Friends Forever logo! We want to make sure it’s clean and ready to display our community pride, so we’re asking for volunteers to help with sanding, scraping, and priming.
Cookout & Potluck
After the work party, we’ll gather for a cookout and potluck to celebrate all the hard work and share some good food. Bring your favorite dish to share, and if you’d like to cook, we’ll have grills ready for you to fire up! This is a great time to catch up with fellow community members, share stories, and enjoy the fruits of our labor.
Monthly Meeting
At 5:00 PM, we’ll hold our monthly Bates Friends Forever meeting to discuss upcoming events, park improvements, and ways we can continue to grow and strengthen our community. Your voice matters, and we’d love to hear from you as we continue working toward our goals for Bates Park! The meeting is typically over by 6pm.
Volunteers for the work party: No experience necessary! Come dressed for the task (and bring gloves if you have them).
Potluck contributions: If you're planning to bring a dish, please let us know so we can make sure we have enough food for everyone.
This is a family-friendly event, and all are welcome! We can’t wait to see you there, so mark your calendars and get ready for an afternoon of work, food, and fun!
