Senior Stroll - The Intriguing History of Island Lake State Recreation Area

Join a naturalist for a casual stroll through one of our state parks or local historic areas. Each month, we’ll focus on a topic related to natural or cultural history. Wear your walking shoes and dress for the weather – we’ll go out rain, snow or shine! Meet at the location designated in each individual program description (additional details will be provided with registration).

What do Babe Ruth, the Dodge brothers and the Michigan Militia have in common? History connected to Island Lake! Join us for a presentation from Jim Vichich of the Brighton Area Historical Society about the fascinating past of this park, then we’ll take our stroll along one of the many park trails.

This is an outdoor event held rain or shine; please dress for the weather.

This is a free, outdoor event. A Recreation Passport [ https://www.michigan.gov/dnr/buy-and-apply/rec-pp] is required to enter Island State Recreation Area.
