East Rock PorchFest is a free music festival taking place for the first time on September 13th from 11-6pm with 50+ musicians performing around the East Rock, New Haven neighborhood. Porchfest is a grassroots music festival where local musicians perform on front porches, driveways, and yards throughout cities and neighborhoods across the country. There are SO many talented musicians performing this first year — don’t miss it. The official poster was created by Hayden Gaillard.
We will have prints of the official poster, as well as analog maps (also created by Hayden) available for purchase on PorchFest day. We also have an interactive map created by Matt Smith on behalf of Park City Presents to help you choose what bands and festivities you would like to catch throughout the day. Lauren Mallet of New Haven Flea will be hosting a PorchFest Flea Market with 9+ amazing vendors from 11-3pm. There will be a drag show performance by Saturnalia at the PorchFest Flea Market at 1pm. We have also collaborated with Brandon Doyle of Goatville Salvage and Nail Hole to design a porch inspired stage in Lawrence Street Plaza where musicians will be performing throughout the day.
The kick-off will begin at East Rock Brewing with a performance by Irish band, None Of Us Saints. Crated Records will be selling vinyl and doing a DJ set proceeding the band performance. The brewery is running a take away special for beer: $2 off all 4-packs, $40 for all 6-pack cases. Stevie will be doing festival face painting as well!
The final event will be a performance by Modern Refuge & Friends on the Lawrence Street Plaza Stage.
Bringing this festival to life has been an incredible experience. We wouldn’t have been able to do it without the outpouring of support from the New Haven community, Lawrence Street Plaza crew, Caroline Tanbee (Alder of Ward 9), and of course all the musicians and hosts.
