Every year, as the sun begins its descent on the 15th of August, the rooftops of Old Delhi come alive — with children tugging at manjhas, elders soaking in the tricolour fluttering across the sky, and homes ringing with songs of freedom. In Shahjahanabad, azaadi is not just remembered — it is relived through flying kites, sharing food, storytelling, and quiet acts of collective pride.

“Patang, Parcham aur Parampara” is an ode to this tradition — a heartfelt gathering that brings together the spirit of celebration with the soul of remembrance. It is an evening that blends the joy of patangbaazi, the dignity of the parcham, and the rootedness of parampara — the three pillars that continue to define India’s cultural and emotional landscape.
We gather not just to commemorate independence, but to embody it — through stories passed down generations, a child’s voice narrating our shared history, and the warm clatter of togetherness over food and flame.
This celebration draws inspiration from the symbolic trio

Patang (Kite):
The flight of hope and rebellion

Parcham (Flag):
Our collective identity and pride

Parampara (Tradition):
Our stories, our roots

This 15th August, as the tricolour flies high and lanterns rise into the night, we invite you to reclaim that childlike joy, rediscover lost stories, and feel a sense of belonging — to a community, a culture, and a country whose spirit has always soared above and beyond. Together, they create an evening of remembrance, joy, and togetherness.

Beyond the stage, Fatima spends her time writing stories, watching cartoons, painting, and building imaginary worlds.
