Semiconductors: An Introduction, an IEEE TryEngineering Educator Session

Hello New Jersey Educators,

IEEE TryEngineering, with support from the Onsemi Giving Now program, is thrilled to invite you to our upcoming session, Semiconductors: An Introduction.

Session Dates and Locations:

• July 29 at Rutgers University, including a tour of the Nanofabrication CORE Facility
• July 30 at Brookdale Community College, featuring a tour of the Brookdale Cyber Center

The TryEngineering Educator Sessions are designed to support middle school teachers in introducing their students to the exciting semiconductor industry, where there are opportunities for technologists, engineers, and other careers with various levels of schooling required.

During each of these sessions, teachers will learn about the semiconductor industry from experts and gain access to resources provided by TryEngineering. Participation is completely free for all teachers!

Each session will include an introduction to resources created by the IEEE TryEngineering team in 2024, which will be available at TryEngineering.org. Faculty researchers from the host universities will be on hand to interact with teachers, answer questions, and provide tours of state-of-the-art facilities that welcome future students. Participants will also learn the details of a hands-on electronics activity and how to build on this activity to model the process of chip-making. Teachers will receive all the necessary materials to replicate this activity in their classrooms—no prior experience with electronics is required.
