Bios
Lillian Baxter
Lillian Baxter was born Gertrude Eugenia Maypother-the only child of Arkansas tobacco sharecroppers, Joe and Sylvia Maypother. Early in life, Lillian was bitten by the theater bug, having won the Pulaski County "Little Miss Little Rock Contest" in which she sang "Mama, He's Making Eyes at Me." That award began her long, arduous climb to the middle. Lillian Baxter has been an extra in 77 films-including The Harvey Girls and Smokey and the Bandit. She was the Maiden of Melody on the Thrifty Vittles Happy Time Song Hour; played the whacky, narcoleptic next door neighbor, Debbie Mimms, on the 50's sleeper hit, Life with Maureen; and starred in the short lived The Lillian Baxter Show. She is currently, touring the Southeastern United States in Old Yeller: the Elaine Stritch Story. She dedicates this performance to each of her 7 ex husbands-all of whom are "very dear to me."
