AAWIC Presents: Pre-Festival Celebration for the 25th Annual Film Festival
Hosted by A&E Network | New York City | 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM

The African American Women in Cinema Organization (AAWIC) is proud to announce a special Pre-Festival Celebration in honor of its historic 25th Annual AAWIC Film Festival, graciously hosted by A&E Network in New York City. This exclusive event will take place from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and is complimentary—however, RSVP is required for entry.

Join us for an inspiring evening that celebrates excellence in film, honors industry trailblazers, and offers a powerful preview of what’s to come at this year’s festival. The event will include the presentation of the AAWIC Luminary Awards to three dynamic honorees:

• Marsha Taylor, Founder of LOL Comedy Honors
• Sharon Parker Fraizer, Executive Vice President, Crystal Ship Talent Agency

The evening will also feature a special sneak peek screening of the highly anticipated film The Shot. This gripping historical narrative follows South African photographer Joseph Louw, who, after fleeing apartheid, joins the journey of civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. On April 4, 1968, just moments after Dr. King’s tragic assassination, Louw captures one of the most iconic and heartbreaking images in American history.

The Shot is directed by Trey Carswell, with Chaina Cooper serving as Executive Producer, Vee Thomas as Casting Director and Producer, and Kay Tuck as Production Manager. This emotionally resonant film pays tribute to the power of photography, the pain of loss, and the enduring legacy of Dr. King.
