Tour Overview
Opening this spring, the Davis Center at the Harlem Meer will seamlessly integrate into the north end of Central Park—restoring access to the landscape and reconnecting the surrounding community with nature.
Designed by the Central Park Conservancy’s landscape architects in collaboration with Susan T. Rodriguez Architecture · Design and Mitchell Giurgola, the state-of-the-art facility and surrounding landscape reflect the priorities of park visitors and honor the original vision of Central Park as a democratic, restorative green space.
Replacing the former Lasker Pool and Rink, the new Davis Center will support expanded year-round recreational and leisure activities, offering the community more ways to enjoy this diverse and beautiful naturalistic setting in the heart of New York City.
Fully accessible and environmentally conscious, the Davis Center reimagines previously impervious surfaces with a walkable green roof and offers new and enhanced outdoor experiences. A reconnected watercourse and boardwalk will guide visitors along the Harlem Meer’s shoreline and freshwater marsh, creating an immersive encounter with the restored landscape’s ecological richness.
