The way journalism works is changing fast– new formats, tighter deadlines, shrinking teams. But the power of a great story? That stays the same.
Join Canva and Flourish in NYC on May 20 for a three-hour, editor-approved event created for journalists and media professionals across editorial, product, social, visual, and data roles. Whether you’re in the newsroom or behind the scenes, this session is designed to add real value to your craft, your team, and your time.
At our recent Canva Create, we launched a new wave of features designed to help teams tell visual stories faster, collaborate more easily and work more efficiently. At this event, we’ll take the time to unpack it all–showing how each new feature can support the day-to-day realities of journalism today.

Ricky Sutton has worked at the intersection of journalism and technology for three decades. He has covered wars, led global newsrooms, run print and digital, and founded an AI company more than a decade ago.
He now brings that experience to bear in Future Media, a fast-growing newsletter and podcasting network focused on the collision of Big Media and Big Tech and the rise of AI read by 15,000 media, tech, and marketing leaders across 1,000 companies and 79 countries.
Diana Abeleven is Canva’s Journalism and Media Lead; focused on supporting journalists and newsrooms as they navigate the evolving media landscape.
Canva is becoming an essential tool in modern newsrooms—empowering teams to tell impactful stories, work more efficiently, and connect with their audiences in visually compelling ways. Whether it’s streamlining design workflows, enhancing storytelling, or enabling collaboration across teams, we’re helping journalists spend less time on process and more time on what matters: reporting the truth.
With a background in strategic communications and public relations, Diana has spent the past four years working closely with journalists and media organizations around the world. Through these partnerships, she’s seen firsthand the challenges facing the industry—and is committed to helping Canva play a meaningful role in strengthening the future of journalism.
