‘Bowl-out-the-dough’ for Cookie
On April 10th, Drew (Andy) Cook, was in an unfortunate ATV accident in Fort Worth, Texas where he suffered a substantial blow to the head that caused a small brain bleed. After multiple CT scans, luckily, there was no spreading of the bleed, however, he was diagnosed with a Traumatic Brain injury.
On April 30th, Andy was transported back to Canada where he is currently being cared for at WRHN at Queen (formerly known as St. Mary's Hospital) in Kitchener, until he is assessed and they determine which acute care hospital he will be admitted to for further rehabilitation. Because the full scope of his rehabilitation needs are still unknown, we recognize that the Cook family will need some additional financial support.
Andy has always been involved in various community events and organizations that have raised funds for many worthy causes. Not only has he played in tournaments, he’s organized many of them and directly supported them through his own personal donations. His generosity has extended to fundraising events for several local community members through hockey, Slo Pitch and Puck/Ball tournaments, raising funds for Suicide Awareness; for a Support Dog for an autistic child; the Wilmot Family Resource Centre; as well as the Pte. Tyler Todd tournament to support the Wounded Warriors Foundation. He is an avid hockey player, playing goalie on numerous teams in Wilmot, Plattsville and Tavistock, as well as a dedicated local Slo Pitch player.
In addition to his many sports teams, Cookie is known as the drummer and band member of the local band, My Cousin Otis, who has played in numerous venues in Waterloo Region and beyond, including local pubs in KW, the Scran and Dram, private parties, and at our very own Baden Firefighters’ concerts.
Now it’s our turn now to help out Cookie! Please join us at New Hamburg Lanes to support the Cook family through our Bowl-a-thon for Cookie.

I have personal experience with head injuries and know the long road ahead for recovery which is why I feel we should relieve some of the worries and financial burden off of the shoulders of the Cook family. We wish Cookie a speedy recovery!
