LMMC's Inaugural Membership & Community Meeting

This inaugural event will inform manufacturers, educators and community leaders about LMMC’s mission-driven ideas to address regional manufacturers’ workforce challenges by raising awareness about the rewarding, appealing careers in our region’s industries, inspiring youth and other job-seekers. Our membership is also working with K-12 education, community organizations and training providers to ensure workers have the necessary entry level skills and opportunities for continued advancement. Brian Benyo, founder of Brilex Industries with almost 300 employees, will speak about his vision in 2010 to convene Mahoning Valley manufacturers to put aside competitive issues and join forces to address their workforce needs. The Mahoning Valley Manufacturers Coalition now has over 100 members and has secured over $25 million for its effective efforts.

LMMC Board President and ELLWOOD Vice President, Strategic Initiatives, Anna Barensfeld will provide a look into the developing, multi-faceted awareness campaign that manufacturers are invited to join to promote their companies and careers. Dave Douglass, Operations Manager, Hall Industries and a LMMC founding board member, will preview an entry level “boot camp” to prepare jobs-seekers with the technical and job readiness skills for success in manufacturing. Attendees will be encouraged to share their ideas and get involved as the region’s second largest employment sector offering quality jobs is the cornerstone of our communities.
