The Peace & Justice Center is holding a fund raiser to raise funds for the immigrants who are being rounded up off America’s streets and put into “detention” centers which are really prisons.
We hope this will be a great community event - featuring Grammy Award winner, Tommy Coster opening jazz, poetry by Chris Olander, The New Peace Choir sings songs of peace, hope and inspiration, and then we’ll have a dance party with RAYO! world music band. We have also secured a speaker who will give us information and talk on immigrants rights and justice.
The show happens on Saturday evening, August 16, 6-9:30 at Pioneer Park. We’re asking suggested donations to the show $10-$20 - but no one will be turned away for lack of funds.
People are encouraged to bring a picnic dinner, and BYOB. (We hope to have snacks and desserts available too.)
Money raised will be split between (1) Nor-Cal Resist, a great community organization in Sacramento helping to pay bail bonds and legal defense fees for immigrants, as well as family support when the breadwinner has been taken by ICE, and (2) the ACLU who is working nonstop in legal court battles involving Unconstitutional actions by Trump’s government, and immigrant rights.
