Please join us in celebrating our tenth annual Pig Day Out!! Our first was held in a small hall in Runaway Bay in 2014 and attendance exceeded all expectations!! The following year we had to find a larger venue and moved the event to Country Paradise Parklands in Nerang. We've held many events there since but the Pig Day Out is always the best attended and our most loved event.
The event includes our famous Guinea Pig Judging Competition where you get to parade your beloved piggies in a safe and comfortable environment. Certificates are given for first, second and third place, and one lucky piggy wins the Judge's Pocket trophy, donated and presented each year by the lovely Jenny Dees.
Nail clipping is available for a gold coin donation, provided by long time vollie Kirsty Bell.
Our sausage sizzle is always a hit and last year we introduced barista coffee courtesy of our volunteers Kathrin and Emilia Klein 😍
The shelter operates a stand on the day, selling lots of small animal products including pre-loved items such as fleece bedding and hidey houses. The Pig Day Out is the perfect opportunity to stock up on all your piggy products, and have lots of fun at the same time 😊
All funds raised go towards the running of the shelter which is currently home to around 180 guinea pigs. This number doesn't include those out on foster which numbers sixteen at the time of writing.
Entry is $10 for a family and $5 for singles.

Certificates will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd placegetters in each category.
Categories will be judged in the order listed so if your category is near the top of the list we ask that you arrive at the venue as early as possible (doors open at 8.30am) to fill out your registration forms which will be available at the registration table on the day.
Entry is $2 for each category. You can enter as many categories as you like. Payment is by cash only so don’t forget to bring notes and coins!
Certificates will be presented after each category.
The competition will begin at 9.30am
We don’t want any guinea pigs to suffer in the name of entertainment so for all those entering the Posh Piggy comp, costumes must be loose fitting and easy to put on and take off. Dress your piggy just prior to your category and remove costume as soon as the judging is finished.
Please supply a small mat or towel for your guinea pig to sit on at the competition table.
All guinea pigs must be brought to the event in a suitable secure carrier. Please bring a water bottle, food and hay so your piggies don’t get hungry and thirsty. Small playpens may be brought along with towels or fleece blankets to go on the floor. A hidey house or two is also a good addition. Don’t worry if you come without one as we’ll have lots of new and secondhand plastic domes for sale on the day, and new wooden tunnels.
Please don’t allow your guinea pigs to mix with other peoples’ piggies as this may result in fighting, or worse still - copulating!!
