NZNO Nurses, Healthcare Assistants and Midwives working for Te Whatu Ora are going on strike for 24 hours from 9am on Wednesday 30 July.
Let's be clear - the nurses are striking to keep the public safe.
There are not enough healthcare workers to care for our community and they have had enough, the investigation into Nelson Hospital is just further evidence on how unsafe our Hospital is right now. We need our healthcare workers to be seen as the professionals they are, not a budget or expense.
36,000 members are going on strike around the county, this is the detail on what strike action will be happening in Whakatū/Nelson.
We are welcoming the public to join us and show solidarity as we take action:
9am - Nurses walk off site as strike starts
9am -10am picket on Waimea Road outside of the Hospital
10am - March from Hospital into Nelson Centre
Please ensure you wear warm clothing and bring a raincoat. There is currently construction access to the Hospital on Waimea Road so please be careful and don't block accessways.
