Are you curious how a play works its way to the stage? Do you like getting a sneak preview of new theatre work? Then the Nelson Fringe New Play Reading Series should be right up your alley! Come out for a FREE evening play reading by local writer, Justin Eade.
"When struggling theatre director Martin Quincannon finally gets his big break on the West End by snaring renowned stage actor Richard Pryce, Pryce goes and dies before the first rehearsal. Enter Richard’s twin brother Karl, a degenerate gambler and drinker, who must now save his departed brother's legacy by taking his place in the play. Small problem, Karl has never set foot on stage in his entire life."
The New Play Reading series is a casual and intimate event designed for the playwright to hear their work read by a group of readers/actors. The stage directions are read aloud as well so the audience can get an idea of how this play might look on stage. After the reading, a short Q&A session is held to give feedback, discuss questions that come up during the reading and talk about the next steps with the writer!
If you are part of the Fringe scene in Nelson, this off-season event is a really cool way of supporting local writers and keeping an ear to what's happening behind the scenes with the NFF!
