12 noon at Nelson City Hall. Make our way to MLA Brittny Anderson's office at about 1pm.
The rumours are true!
The venerable 89-year-old Dr. David Suzuki and Nelson’s own Dr. Suzanne Simard (named one of TIME Magazine’s Top 100 Most Influential People in the World in 2024) have confirmed their attendance IN NELSON on Tuesday November 18 as part of the province-wide Broken Promises Protest demanding forestry reform.
This is going to be HUGE - but only if we make it that way. We need you to show up. Big numbers will send a clear message to Premier Eby that MLA Brittny Anderson’s seat (and others across the province) are in jeopardy unless this government starts listening to science and math on just how broken status-quo forestry is. Seriously, if we don’t get 400+ people out in Nelson, I might just give up - so please don’t let that happen! 🙂
This is a grassroots-driven protest. The amazing Victoria-based Elders for Ancients (led by Jackie, Bill and Susan) and the Save What’s Left Conservation Society supported by a wide array of individuals and passionate groups from big to small, have burned the midnight oil to get it from idea to reality in less than two weeks. Our messaging is tight, our graphic design - by Nelson’s talented Marina Nagibina - is bang-on, and we already have a strong campaign planned for the next steps after this protest. Please join us.
Protests are planned in at least six other locations around the province. For the latest details, times, and downloadable protest posters, visit:
