The Lower Nehalem watershed is full of bird-lovers, but how do we make our community and towns beloved by birds? These 'Shared Spaces' are the focus of this year's Migratory Bird Day Celebration.
Gather at Alder Creek Farm on Sunday, May 25th for a day of guided bird walks, 'Big Sit' observation station, kids activities and learning opportunities! There will be no shortage of fun for bird enthusiasts of all ages at this family-friendly event. Bring binoculars, or borrow a pair of ours! No prior birding experience is necessary.
Guided bird walks will depart from the farm. One will begin at 10AM, and another at 11:30AM, following two route options: one on flat terrain and one that traverses up a medium slope to the upper riparian areas above Alder Creek. Together, we'll identify challenges birds face in our own community and learn how to make the spaces we share with birds safer and more welcoming.
If exploring over uneven ground isn't your thing, join us at our 'Big Sit' station. Or visit the interpretive tables hosted by Hoffman Center for the Arts, Oregon Parks & Recreation, Seven Capes Bird Alliance, Haystack Rock Awareness Program (HRAP), Bird Alliance of Oregon, and the Wildlife Center of the North Coast.
