Introduction to Hand Tools

This course will instruct participants on the safe and efficient use of three fundamental hand tools: the hand plane, chisel, and router plane. Through comprehensive demonstrations and practical exercises, attendees will learn how to dimension, smooth, and square wood for constructing a card box.

Gain proficiency in the fundamental techniques of sharpening, tuning, and utilizing hand planes, card scrapers, chisels, and router planes.
Develop expertise in flattening and squaring boards, accurately laying out dimensions, as well as paring, chopping, and hand routing.
Acquire an understanding of wood grain direction and its influence on the application of hand tool woodworking.
