The Backyard Ultra is not your typical race, it's a true test of physical and mental endurance. Runners take on a 4.167-mile loop through the scenic Needham Town Forest and Rail Trail every hour, on the hour, until only one runner remains. One winner. Everyone else earns a well-deserved DNF...Did Not Finish.

We ask each team member to raise funds in support of our mission. These donations don’t just support race-day logistics—they help us expand our reach, fund vital mental health programs, and share your stories to inspire others and spread awareness about veteran and first responder suicide prevention.
In return, you’ll receive full support from our team on race day, including hydration, nutrition, and aid to help you go the distance physically and mentally.
