Bead Therapy is an expressive arts workshop that teaches participants the basics of beaded jewelry making and the difference between semi-precious stones and precious stones. The materials used are semi-precious stones and other natural jewelry materials. Semi-precious stones have been appreciated for generations for their unique beauty and healing and grounding properties.
The goal of Bead Therapy is to create a safe space for self-expression to create a piece of art that represents the emotions of the creator. Each participant will keep all the pieces they make.
About:
Zangar Freeman is a first-generation Liberian-American jewelry artist, educator, and veteran who integrates cultural storytelling and art therapy practices into his beadwork. With a background in social work and a deep appreciation for community connection, he has taught beadwork and expressive arts across the lifespan, working with youth clubs, community centers, senior centers, and schools.
*Due to the overwhelming popularity of certain programs at the Morse Institute Library, we will be instituting a new registration procedure for some Adult programs, effective immediately:
While all parties interested in our programs may register when the programs go live, Natick residents will get first access for the first three weeks of a craft or cooking program's registration period. All non-Natick residents will be waitlisted until one week prior to the program's start.
One week from the start of a program, non-Natick residents will be moved off the waitlist in the order they registered.
We thank everyone for the enthusiastic response to our programs! We're lucky to have such a dedicated community supporting our work.
