Two Vanderbilt graduates with decades of friendship and musical collaboration—composer / pianist Peter Dayton and composer / violist Christopher Lowry—will reunite in Turner Hall on Sunday, September 28, 2025, as they present Autumn Visions: New Music for Strings and Piano. The duo will be joined by guest cellist Caio Alves Diniz, Lowry’s former LSU roommate and a frequent collaborator who now serves as chamber music manager at the Rice University Shepherd School of Music.

Concert highlights will include the regional premieres of Lowry’s Brazilian-inspired “Nordestinception: Armorial Snapshots,” commissioned by Diniz, for cello and piano, Dayton’s “Viola Sonata,” and another reprise of Dayton’s viola “Fantasy,” (composed at Blair), which has been published on multiple commercial recordings and featured in NewMusicShelf’s Viola Anthology of New Music. Dayton and Blair faculty member Megan Gale, instructor of collaboration, will accompany Lowry and Diniz on piano for this program of exciting new and recent music.
