About the event

Learn about the Turtle Species living in Nashua
Let’s learn about the Turtle Species living in Nashua! We’ll join Rivier University professor Shanna Demers and her students as they conduct turtle population research at Fields Grove park in Nashua. This is part of an ongoing effort to document turtle species in Salmon Brook.

Professor Demers and her team will collect turtles from live traps and record species, sex, size, and whether the turtle is a recapture (previously marked) or new capture. This information is reported to the state and helps assess turtle population health.

Live traps are checked frequently and turtles are not harmed.

Here’s an article from 2022 that discusses this project.
