I'm melllllting... pewter. An introduction to metal casting.

This hands-on workshop will teach you the basics of casting lead-free pewter, and you'll leave with something you cast yourself!

You'll learn:

• About Pewter, and how it compares to Lead, Tin and other metals
• Some of the many ways you can design and make a mold for pewter casting
• How to safely melt and cast pewter
• Techniques and tools for finishing pewter castings
  
  Before the end of the class, you'll cast your own pewter coin/medallion complete with your own customization, and have the knowledge you need to do pewter casting on your own.

• All materials used in casting (Pewter, mold materials, etc)
• A take-home item where you customize the mold and cast ityourself

• Metal casting deals with high temperatures, and has unique hazards. You MUST exercise caution and pay attention in this workshop to minimize risk of injury.
• This workshop is not suitable for young children or non-participants. Anyone in the area must be a class participant over the age of 12, and any class participants under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a participant who is their responsible legal guardian.
• For safety reasons, all participants must wear a non-synthetic long-sleeve cover, gloves, and safety glasses when pouring pewter. Gloves and glasses will be provided, but bringing your own long-sleeve cover is recommended.
