HĪKOI FOR KAEA is a whānau and hāpori-driven initiative aimed at raising community awareness for the safety of all Tamariki in our communities.
This movement is to empower whānau and community members to STAND UP to bullies and intimidation in our neighbourhoods. We want to rally in support of survivors and families who have been impacted by violence, letting them know “we see you.”
Although the Hīkoi comes as a response to such unfortunate circumstances, the message and overall goal for the kaupapa is to promote well-ness and positive community initiatives that champion rangatahi in their development, all while keeping them safe and thriving.
He Waka Eke Noa ~ We are all in this together. Let’s HĪKOI in unity and solidarity to pave a future where our tamariki feel protected.
After the Hīkoi, the Justice for Kaea Committee will be putting on a whānau Community event including bouncy castles & inflatable obstacle courses, food & drink trailers, sports games and challenges, free barber cuts for tamariki, music performances, arts & crafts & a free Community BBQ. Come along for a fun, enjoyable afternoon!
