Matariki is a time to come together to remember those we’ve lost, celebrate the present, and look ahead to the year to come. We’re marking the occasion with an evening of performance, kai, storytelling and shared moments with whānau and friends.
Come down and enjoy a line-up of incredible talent including:
⭐️ Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Te Ara Hou
⭐️ Te Ūranga Waka – EIT Māori Studies
⭐️ Teine mai le Mauga
⭐️ Te Aupikitanga ki Tai, Te Wānanga o Aotearoa
⭐️ Justin and Manaia Warena
⭐️ Ollie Burns
You’ll also catch Flames of Plenty with their glow and fire shows lighting the way, and Pereri King sharing stories that bring the meaning of Matariki to life. We’ve got spot prizes to give away across the evening too.
MTG Hawke’s Bay will be open late. Come explore the galleries, hunt for hidden stars throughout the museum, and get hands-on with a star-making activity.
When it comes to kai, we’re keeping it local and delicious. An exciting new addition to this year’s menu is a beautiful hot hāngī, he reka! If you’d like to get your hands on a pack, pre-order yours from Aunty Kath at 027 857 3166. Trust us, whānau, you won’t want to miss out!
You can also grab something tasty from a great range of food trucks, including Paella a Go Go, Mac Daddy, Peg & Pickle, Wombos, Seas Up, Boost BBQ, Boost Espresso, Hapi, Mr Whippy, Lil Donuts, Shani’s Coffee and more.
This is a free, whānau-friendly event and one of the best nights on the winter calendar. So, wrap up warm, bring your whānau, and spend the evening with us under the Matariki stars.
Nau mai, haere mai, all are welcome! 🤗
