Virgo Rising at Nanaimo Folk Connection!

Virgo Rising is back! We will be featuring at the Nanaimo Folk Connection, Friday, June 20, 2025. The evening starts at 7pm with an open stage, followed by a full hour of favourite Virgo Rising songs.

This is the first of two reunion concerts (the second is in Victoria on June 29th at the Victoria Folk Music Society's weekly coffeehouse).

Virgo Rising, Vancouver Island’s own fab fem folk foursome, have been delighting audiences near and far since 1994 with their eclectic mix of traditional, original, and contemporary songs. They weave their magic with threads of joyous vocal harmony, instrumental pizzazz, and their own contagious enthusiasm, all served up with down-to-earth warmth and humour. You’re sure to find yourself singing along!

Virgo Rising is: Karen Gillmore: flute, guitar, banjo, mandolin, djembe; Sharon Hazelwood: tenor guitar, percussion; Sue Averill: guitar, electric bass, Appalachian dulcimer; and Tracy Summers: uke bass, guitar, djembe.
