WHAT: Join us for a fun and entertaining piano performance by Duke Thompson in support of Nanaimo’s Community Impact Organizations.

WHO: Duke Thompson is a piano virtuoso. He received his Doctor of Music degree in piano performance from Arizona State University in 1997. He has been featured on National Public Radio in Canada and The United States and has performed extensively in both countries as well as in Japan, Portugal, France, and Ireland. Duke Thompson is known to some as a “Pianist Gone Wild” with his powerful arrangements of iconic Classic Rock tunes (Stairway to Heaven, Riders on the Storm, Bohemian Rhapsody), his own compositions (The Bells of Ukraine, Eternal, Gangster Blues), medleys (The Beatles with The Guthries, Elvis Presley with Louis Armstrong) and excerpts from Beethoven, Mozart, The Medieval monks, and The Blues. He speaks to his audience, shares little-known stories, and invites audience responses. Dr. Thompson has five piano CDs and currently services as President of Maryland Conservatory of Music.
WHY: The Performance is by donation at the door, all funds raised will go towards leadership scholarships for Nanaimo’s Community Impact Organizations.
