Every Body Dances!
Crimson Coast Dance proudly presents DanceABLE 2025—a joyful celebration of movement, collaboration, and inclusion. Guided by dance artists and facilitators Myriam Verzat, Tatiana Hassan, and Jack Chennel and Laura Jesson Love.
DanceABLE features local participants of all abilities, including members of The Clay Tree Society and the Nanaimo Association for Community Living. John Carter has created the lighting design for this evenings production.
Over two weeks of creative exploration and rehearsal, a vibrant community of movers—each bringing their unique perspectives and strengths—has come together to co-create an original dance work. Born from our monthly Every Body Dances jam sessions, this project embodies our shared commitment to fostering belonging, expression, and joy through dance.
This year, with the support of the BC Disability Alliance and The Port Theatre, and in collaboration with lighting designer John Carter and local disabilities advocates, Sean Enns and Miles Hayes, we began exploring ways to create sensitivity-friendly theatre experiences. Our goal is to better understand and serve members of our community who experience neurodivergence or visual, auditory, and tactile sensitivities. Rather than framing neurodivergence as a challenge, we’re embracing it as a creative force—a vital part of the artistic process that opens space for new perspectives and deeper connection.
Join us in celebrating the beauty of difference and the power of movement to connect us all.
