About the event

Blackbird Presented by Portal Players
Winner for Best Production at this year's Theatre BC North Island Zone Drama Festival.

Blackbird is a 2005 play written by Scottish playwright David Harrower. It was inspired in part by the real crimes of sex offender Toby Studebaker, and depicts a young woman meeting a middle-aged man fifteen years after being sexually abused by him when she was twelve.

Nanaimo Theatre Group is happy to assist with fundraising efforts by Portal Players to travel to the Provincial Mainstage Festival to be held the first week of July in Fort Saint John, B.C..
