🛑WHY A PROPHETIC MOVEMENT?
1 Corinthians 14:1 (NKJV) “Pursue love, and desire spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy.”
1. WHY A PROPHETIC MOVEMENT?
Because God has always spoken, and God still speaks.
From Genesis to Revelation, we see one consistent divine pattern:
God reveals His will through prophetic voice and prophetic instruction.
Before kings were anointed, prophets spoke.
Before nations were warned or restored, prophets spoke.
Before Jesus was born, prophets declared Him.
Before the Gospel spread, prophets confirmed direction (Acts 13:1–2).
The prophetic is not a “Pentecostal invention.”
It is a biblical pattern and a Kingdom system for alignment, direction, correction, and edification.
A prophetic movement simply means:
A people awakened to hear God, obey God, and respond to God under the leadership of the Holy Spirit.
2. WHAT DOES THE PROPHETIC MINISTRY ENTAIL?
a. Revealing God’s Heart
Prophecy is not fortune-telling; it is the unveiling of God’s mind, will, and intentions.
Amos 3:7 – Surely the Lord GOD does nothing unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets.
b. Edification, Exhortation, Comfort
Paul gives the New Testament purpose clearly:
1 Corinthians 14:3 – “He who prophesies speaks edification and exhortation and comfort to men.”
c. Direction and Activation
In Acts, the prophetic guided the early church:
Acts 11:27–28 – Agabus prophesies about the famine; the church prepares.
Acts 13:1–2 – By prophetic instruction, Barnabas and Saul are commissioned.
Acts 21:10–11 – Prophecy gives Paul clarity on his coming trials.
d. Calling Sons and Daughters Into Their Destiny
Prophecy activates divine purpose.
Paul says:
1 Timothy 1:18 – “Use the prophecies previously made concerning you to wage the good warfare.”
Prophecy gives you weapons for destiny.
3. DO WE STILL NEED THE PROPHETIC UNDER GRACE?
Absolutely yes and scripture confirms it.
a. Because the Holy Spirit is still speaking
Jesus promised that the Spirit would:
Guide (John 16:13)
Reveal (1 Cor. 2:10)
Teach (John 14:26)
Declare things to come (John 16:13)
This is prophetic activity.
b. Because the gifts did not end with the Apostles
Paul taught spiritual gifts to Gentile churches that continued beyond the Apostolic era.
He never attached an expiry date.
1 Corinthians 1:7 (NLT) – “You have every spiritual gift you need as you eagerly wait for the return of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Gifts remain until Jesus returns.
c. Because the prophetic matures and protects the church
Ephesians 4:11–13 says apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers were given “until we all come to the unity of the faith and to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.”
We are not there yet.
Therefore, prophetic ministry is still needed.
d. Because the New Creation Walks in the Spirit, Not the Flesh
To walk in the Spirit is to receive revelation, instruction, and alignment from God.
Prophetic ministry helps the believer discern the voice of God clearly.
4. WHY MANY RESIST THE PROPHETIC
Those against prophetic ministry must understand:
The devil fears a prophetic church because a prophetic church is a discerning church.
The prophetic exposes deception, opens eyes, gives instruction, and destroys confusion.
Prophecy brings order where the enemy wants chaos.
Prophecy brings faith where the enemy wants doubt.
Prophecy activates destinies the devil wants to delay.
Silencing the prophetic is one of Satan’s oldest strategies (Jeremiah 20:9).
5. SO YES. WE NEED A PROPHETIC MOVEMENT TODAY
A prophetic movement is not hype.
❌It is not emotionalism.
❌It is not manipulation.
A prophetic movement is:
✅A revival of hearing God.
✅A restoration of spiritual intelligence.
✅A rising of believers who discern times and seasons.
✅A calling forth of destinies, ministries, and assignments.
✅A community governed by the voice of the Holy Spirit.
A church without the prophetic is a church walking with open eyes but no vision. A church with the prophetic sees, hears, and advances.
