Meet choreographer and performer Liz Kinoshita and for two days experience her style and practice. Participants will play with dance musicality, timing, timbre, tempo and physical tonality
Free for professional dancers
Last application date August 24 on Dansalliansen website
We will work on strengthening surprising co-ordinations, pivoting from automatic pathways, and learning to wake up or let go of different muscles to support alignment, elevating dynamic dancing in many body architectures. We will investigate what history and habits we carry with us whether consciously or not, and how we can deviate from these when we wish to, so that one’s performativity is not being presented by default nor accident but is rather deliberate and responsive. We will play with dance musicality, meaning timing, timbre, tempo, physical tonality, and a cage to set you free, structure to lean into. These tools will be shared through practicing a balance of instant composition scores and through set materials.
Liz Kinoshita has worked with ZOO/Thomas Hauert, Tino Sehgal, among others, and created her own work with collaborators such as Clinton Stringer, Justin F. Kennedy and Salka Ardal Rosengren. Her practices focus on musicality in dance, working with live performances shared (inter)nationally.
