Join us for a peaceful and meaningful evening of creativity at the Origami Crane Workshop, led by Yoko Tanaka, Executive Director of the Japan America Society of Iowa.
This event is part of the "Cranes of Friendship" project, a statewide initiative celebrating the long-standing sister-state relationship between Iowa and Yamanashi Prefecture, Japan. Communities across Iowa are joining together to fold 1,000 origami cranes, which will be displayed at the Iowa State Fair in 2025, alongside a reciprocal gift of 1,000 cranes from residents of Yamanashi. These cranes symbolize peace, hope, and the enduring friendship between our two regions.
Whether you're new to origami or have folded cranes before, all are welcome to participate in this hands-on cultural experience.
