You are invited to participate in a free drug takeback, confidential document shredding, and sharps disposal event at the Jackson County Health Department.
Free and confidential document shredding is provided by Specialized Training for Adult Rehabilitation (S.T.A.R.T). No on-site shredding. Limit 2 Boxes per individual.
Free and safe disposal of unwanted medications - prescriptions and over-the-counter medicines including pills, creams, and patches ARE accepted. NO liquids or inhalers.*
Access our new Sharps Disposal bins. Needles, syringes, auto-injectors, and lancets are accepted. Free 1 pt. sharps collection containers are available for pickup.
This initiative addresses a vital public safety and public health issue. Studies show that a majority of abused prescription drugs are obtained from family and friends, including from the home medicine cabinet. Proper disposal of medications through this event reduces environmental and health hazards and increases safety in the home.
