Welcome to our annual private hammer-in at the Waterloo Farm Museum! Join in comradery, learn new skills, help a beginner to find their footing, talk technique, and enjoy the company of other fine folks who like to create with fire and metal. All levels welcome, from complete novice to expert. Just bring what you have!
Rustic camping space available (and encouraged). Bring a cooler, a dish to pass for the Saturday night potluck, coal or propane, steel and equipment (if you have it). A popup for your work area is highly recommended.
There will be an Iron in the Hat raffle (hanger hooks theme)** to benefit the museum. Proceeds from the iron in the hat go towards repairing the museum Blacksmith's shop. (please do your best to create something within the theme to donate to the raffle, for those new to the concept). Please consider creating items to donate to the gift shop as well! The museum is a volunteer run nonprofit and it is a good way to give back to the site.
**NOTE: Only Michigan residents are able to purchase raffle tickets. **
There's plenty of time to have fun and socialize, so feel free to bring instruments, a chair to sit by the fire, and any other form of entertainment and knowledge you wish. Teach about the stars, regale us with a tale or two, explain what that plant in the woods can be used for, bring and teach a different craft or skill, etc. Most of us are interested in multiple subjects.
Please respond to this event or message myself or Chris StCharles if you are interested, and feel free to message any questions. If you have something you would like to teach, let us know!
