Together by A Carnatic Quartet

Watch the rare confluence of violin, nadaswaram, mridangam, thavil, and electronics, curated by violinist Shreya Devnath and her quartet.  
At the heart of this concert lies a dialogue between four instruments that rarely share the same stage. Electric violin, nadaswaram, mridangam, and thavil—each carrying its own history, timbre, and weight—find common ground in a performance that is as much about deep listening as it is about playing.

‘Together’ by A Carnatic Quartet, conceived by violinist Shreya Devnath, expands the boundaries of tradition by integrating electronic textures through Ableton Live. The concert journeys through Carnatic and semi-classical compositions, original works, and improvisations, where melody and rhythm shift, collide, and merge in unexpected ways.

Featuring Shreya Devnath on electric violin, Mylai M. Karthikeyan on nadaswaram, Praveen Sparsh on mridangam and electronics, and Adyar G. Silambarasan on thavil, ‘Together’ is both an experiment and a celebration, a vivid reminder of the boundless possibilities that emerge when artists simply come together to make music.
