NCPA presents a masterclass by eminent Odissi exponent Sujata Mohapatra, offering dance students a unique opportunity to learn directly from one of the leading figures in the field.
Shree Krushna Bilasha is an Odissi Abhinaya that portrays Radha`s friend describing Krishna`s enchanting appearance to Radha in the kunja (grove). It describes Krishna standing in a stylized tribhangi pose, adorned with a peacock feather and flower garlands, radiating charm and captivating the gopis. The lyrics evoke the beauty of the kunja, filled with fragrant flowers and rustling leaves, highlighting Krishna`s mesmerizing presence.
Sujata Mohapatra has set a benchmark for excellence in Odissi. Her performances and panache have catapulted the art form to the global stage. Mohapatra has had 20 years of tutelage under Kelucharan Mohapatra. She is a recipient of the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award, Pandit Jasraj Award, Sanjukta Panigrahi Samman, Mahari Award, Aditya Birla Vikram Samman and the Raza Foundation Award, among others. She has performed extensively in India and abroad and teaches Odissi.
