Casual Magic: The Gathering Tournament – Player Instructions & Guidelines
Welcome to our Casual Play MTG Tournament! This event is all about fun, friendly competition, community, and creativity. To help everything run smoothly, please review the instructions below before taking your seat at the table.
📝 Registration & Setup
Check-In Time: Arrive at least 15 minutes early to sign in.
Deck Requirements: Any constructed commander deck is welcome
Player List: Once everyone is checked in, we’ll finalize the list and begin pairings.
🔄 Tournament Structure
Format: Casual Swiss-style.
Rounds: 3–4 rounds depending on attendance.
Round Length: 50 minutes per round.
Pairings: Randomized pairings each round – posted on the announcements board.
Deck Changes: No deck changes are allowed.
🕹️ Gameplay Rules
Starting: Roll a die / flip a coin to determine who goes first.
Life Totals: Use pen & paper, counters, or life tracker apps — please track clearly.
Rules Enforcement Level: Friendly — players are encouraged to help one another and remind others of game actions (draw step, triggers, etc.).
Judge/Host: If a disagreement occurs, pause immediately and notify the event host for a ruling.
👍 Sportsmanship Expectations
Be Respectful: All players should feel welcome and comfortable.
No Bullying or Harassment: Zero tolerance.
Play at a Reasonable Pace: Be mindful of time.
Have Fun: Win or lose, encourage each other!
🏆 Prizes
Participation: Every player gets something just for showing up! Greater prize allocation for top 3 spot winners.
📦 Trading & Community
Trading is encouraged between rounds, not during active matches.
Feel free to socialize, network, and make new friends — building community is what casual play is all about!
🔚 Event Wrap-Up
Once all rounds are complete, report back to the registration table.
Prizes and packs will be distributed.
Group photo (optional but fun!).
