Ingħaqad magħna biex kollettivament naħdmu flimkien fuq petizzjoni biex niżviluppaw talbiet ċari ħalli nipproteġu l-kosti u l-portijiet tagħna mill-interessi privati.
Il-proġett Save Our Shores (SOS) jiffoka fuq il-problemi serji ambjentali, soċjali u tas-saħħa kkawżati mill-industriji marittimi bħall-vapuri tal-cruise, is-superyachts u bastimenti kbar oħra. Dawn il-bastimenti spiss jaħarqu heavy fuel oil (HFO) u fjuwils oħra li jniġġsu arja, u jikkontribwixxi għall-kriżi klimatika u jaffettwa s-saħħa tal-komunitajiet lokali.
Is-sena l-oħra organizzajna ħames laqgħat komunitarji ma’ lokalitajiet affettwati, f’Marsaskala, il-Belt Valletta u l-Furjana, Għawdex, il-Kottonera u Manoel Island.
Issa se nerġgħu ningħaqdu biex flimkien noħolqu sett ta’ talbiet politiċi li se jitqassmu mal-pubbliku ġenerali bħala petizzjoni li kulħadd jista’ jiffirma. Il-petizzjoni se tiġi ppreżentata lil awtoritajiet publiċi biex nesprimu t-talbiet tagħna għal ambjent aktar nadif u aktar għexien għall-komunità tagħna.
Ingħaqad magħna nhar il-Ġimgħa 6 ta’ Marzu bejn is-18:00 u l-20:00, fil-ġnien ta’ Friends of the Earth Malta fil-Furjana. Se nipprovdu xi ftit ikel ħafif u xorb biex inżommu l-konversazzjoni għaddejja, ġib miegħek l-enerġija u t-talbiet tiegħek!

Join our community petition co-creation session to develop clear, collective demands to protect our coasts and harbours from private interests.
The Save Our Shores (SOS) project addresses the serious environmental, social, and health impacts caused by maritime industries such as cruise liners, superyachts, and other large ships. These vessels often burn heavy fuel oil (HFO) and other highly polluting fuels, contributing to air pollution, accelerating the climate crisis, and negatively affecting the health of local communities.
Last year, we held five community assemblies with affected residents in Marsascala, Valletta/Floriana, Gozo, Cottonera, and Manoel Island.
Now, we are coming together to co-create a set of political demands that will be shared with the wider public through a petition. This petition will be presented to decision-makers to clearly express our call for a cleaner, healthier, and more liveable environment for all.
Join us on Friday, 6 March, from 18:00–20:00 at the Friends of the Earth Malta Green Resource Centre in Floriana.
We’ll provide snacks and drinks to fuel the conversation, just bring your energy and your ideas!
