Hike - 3 miles
Hike Details: The hike is a relatively easy out and back hike on a smooth, wide trail following along Laurel Creek. It is 3 miles total. It is well shaded and suitable for both kids and dogs on a leash. Feel free to bring the whole gang, or bring a fishing rod and enjoy it by yourself during and after.
Please stick around and support Damascus downtown businesses after the hike to help their continued recovery post-Helene. They really need our help!
Additional Notes - Please be sure to consult with your physician to make sure you are fit enough to hike. This is a voluntary outing so sign up at your own risk. We will have a guide take you on the hike, but you will be responsible for your own well being (water, food, safety, medical supplies, etc.). Unplug SWVA is not responsible for any illness or injuries you may encounter from hiking with our group.
Please do not bring electronic devices that may distract you, or others, on the hike (i.e. iPads, game consoles, headphones, music, etc.). The whole point of this group is to get away from distractions and unplug ourselves in the outdoors. Feel free to take photos and videos though, it's going to be beautiful!
All events are weather permitting.
Please check back on the event page, and in the event's Discussion, to stay up to date.
We will not be hiking fast. The whole point of this group is to enjoy the outdoors together, not to race one another. We usually average 1.5 miles/hr, so plan accordingly.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Hope to see y'all out there!
