Highland Pipes Masterclass with Willie McCallum

This event will feature Willie’s guidance on how to approach Marches, Strathspeys and Reels and also some essentials of Piobaireachd playing. There will be demonstration on developing control, flow, expression, lift and consistency in the music. There will be discussion and demonstration of technique and how to practice embellishments and work on clean technique in order to best apply to the tunes for maximum effect.

Students are invited to bring their instruments and there may be some opportunity to do some playing and receive positive critique on their music, technique and instrument. This is partly intended help students who intend to compete at the Highland Games or simply for pipers to improve their knowledge and understanding of the music.
