Next Chapter Book Club

Next Chapter Book Club provides adults with Down syndrome and other intellectual disabilities the opportunity to read and learn to read, talk about books, and make friends in a fun, community setting. As part of a national movement, Next Chapter Book Clubs across North America meet weekly in local bookstores and cafés to read aloud and discuss the books of their choice. Book Club members range from those who read well to those who cannot read independently. The Next Chapter Book Club model promotes social connections, literacy learning and community inclusion.
One hour of group reading and book-club activities as recommended by NCBC, followed by optional thirty minutes socializing. It is a community event without a religious focus. There is food and drink available for purchase by the participants during the social time. Coffeehouse closes at 6:30pm. Parents/Caregivers are welcome to remain in the coffeehouse as there is plenty of room.
NOTE: This will take place on the second floor in a facility with no elevator. Participants would be required to climb a flight of stairs.
