It’s with immense pleasure that we introduce “Midwal Community Archive” This Malta Arts Council-funded project, led by artists Roderick Camilleri and Katel Delia, aims to uncover and celebrate Santa Lucija’s rich artistic, cultural, and historical heritage.
“Midwal,” meaning “illumination,” perfectly captures the project’s goal: to shed light on this close-knit community’s unique stories. By fostering collaboration among youth, seniors, and local students, “Midwal” ensures an inclusive representation of Santa Lucija’s identity.
This isn’t merely an archive; it’s a living testament to collective memory, expressed through creative works inspired by extensive research. The project culminates in a public exhibition in Santa Lucija, celebrating the locality’s unique character and the powerful bonds forged. “Midwal” truly exemplifies the power of community-driven initiatives in preserving local heritage, promising to illuminate Santa Lucija’s heart for generations.
